Hi there,

I’ve really been enjoying family time while my son Chase is home on break from NYU. I never get enough time with him or his brother, Justin. We’ve been doing a lot of eating out. (He says there isn’t great Mexican food in New York so we’ve been doing that a lot. Hello fat jeans!)

We had Chase’s girlfriend over to play board games this weekend. Have you ever played Apples to Apples? It’s a fun word game. (I love word games.) We came up with a lot of potential band names that were inspired by the cards like Furious Chickens and Idiotic Bicycles.

Chase leaves this weekend which means Justin isn’t around as much any more either going back to his studies too. Sigh. I am already feeling melancholy.

On the bright side Cathy Goodwin and I have a mind-blowing mini-workshop for you on using Swipe Files the right way. (Did you know that using them wrong can do more harm than good? It’s true.)

Anyway it’s called Swipe File Secrets on January 24 and 31. Register now at www.SwipeFileSuccess.com and you’ll also get my ebook “Primer on How to Consistently Write Attention-Grabbing Headlines…No Matter What Your Skill Level Is Today” ($197 value) for free.

That bonus is off the table TOMORROW by the way so don’t wait to sign up!

Enjoy your week!

Warmly,

Lorrie

GKIC Women’s Event Coming Soon…

Women don’t have to have “a pair” to have outrageous success in business!

The fact is, WOMEN instinctively learn better from WOMEN! Why? Because women operate on four modalities at the same time (mental, physical, emotional & spiritual) while men operate on only two (mental & physical). So it stands to reason women and men process information differently…making it easier for women to learn from women.

Join me as one of the speakers at the Glazer-Kennedy Inner Circle (GKIC) special event that meets the needs of WOMEN in business. It’s called the GKIC, Strut-Your-Stuff, Bring-it-On, Get-it-Done, Take-it-to-the-Next-Level Business Makeover FOR WOMEN!

Check it out at www.RedHotGKIC.com. There’s a special offer going on for a short time. This is a not-to-be-missed seminar!

Has Marketing to Men Gone Out of Style?

By Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero, Expert Copywriting Strategist

Women have been getting all the attention lately as being 85% of the buying market. Turns out they have a lot more impact on big ticket items than marketers and copywriters used to believe! Part of that shift is etched in history and part of it is in psychology.

But what about the men? Where are they in this mix of purchasing power?

Well relax. The men aren’t going anywhere. They still make a significant contribution to the economy. But you simply need to market to them differently than you market to women. And it’s not just changing the colors or the presentation.

Both genders are very different biologically, psychologically and socially so you need to do your homework.

Here are some tips to keep in mind when reaching out to men:

  1. Men have a shorter decision-making process. They aren’t “browsers” if they are looking for something specific. Once they find it, they don’t necessarily belabor over the cost or comparison-shop. As a marketer you must be very clear about the features of what you offer and get to the point quickly.
  2. Men are linear thinkers while women think more abstractly. Male and female brains are actually wired differently to adjust for the differences. Women use both lobes of the brain at the same time, while men use only one at a time. So your copy needs to have a linear order when selling to men.
  3. Problem, Agitate, Solve.” Dan Kennedy’s axiom is the best way to connect with a male prospect. Present the issue they want to fix, twist the knife, then show him your product is the answer to his woes. (Women respond better to Red Hot Copy’s axiom, “Problem, Relate, Solve” making storytelling more powerful to build rapport with women prospects.)
  4. He wants to win! Men value coming out ahead of others. It goes all the way back to our hunter/gatherer roots when the best hunter got fed, lived in the best cave, and secured the best DNA model to have his offspring. Not winning means someone else gets the goods. Not acceptable. To get a male prospect’s attention, infuse a little healthy competition in your copy?
