4-Step Technique To Jumpstart Your Copywriting

One of the hardest parts to writing copy is just getting started! Look, it doesn’t matter how many years you have under your belt as a writer…you can be a rank beginner or a seasoned pro. Yet we all struggle with the procrastination dragon.
Now what I’m about to share with you was a no-fail 4-step technique used by the military to get focused and stay that way. If they are able to use this system with bombs going off around them and gunfire whizzing by their ears, I’m confident you can use this in the comfort of your own office to create copy.
STEP ONE: Relax.
Concentrate on your breath. Breathe in and out evenly and calmly. Be in the present. Don’t worry about the past or the future. The only thing you can truly affect right now is the RIGHT NOW.
STEP TWO: Focus.
Pick a spot anywhere in the room. Concentrate only on that spot. Let everything around that spot become a blur. Next take that laser focus and apply it to your topic.
STEP THREE: Decide.
Make the conscious choice to get your work done.
STEP FOUR: Act.
Turn off ALL distractions. Set a timer for a time period that works for you. I like 15 minutes. (Definitely don’t go longer than 40 minutes though. Studies show our brain starts to look for distractions around 40 minutes of concentration.) And WRITE. Don’t edit yet. Just write.
